A sub-category of Role Play in which the bottom behaves, speaks and even dresses as a younger person. Usually the roles are characters in the childhood and adolescence stage. Props and clothing -such as ruffled dresses, diapers, children's toys and even cribs- may be used during play for a more believable experience. Age play NOT necessarily involve sexual acts. When sexual, it's not uncommon for incestuous elements to be incorporated into the role-play. Some examples of this include when an "older" age player assumes the role of an older relative, such as a mother, father, aunt, uncle or sibling.

Age play can be considered controversial even within the confines of BDSMK; given its nature -where the main fantasy involves playing children or incestuous relationships- some kink folks consider this kind a play “a little too twisted even for kink folks”. Contrary to what some people might believe, age players ARE NOT PEDOPHILES, just as sadists are not serial killers or husband/wife beaters, or pet players are not pet rapists. They are not interested in sexual relations with children, their interest is limited to the confines of enacting a fantasy with a consenting adult.
