ALT’s Workshops

Unless someone decides to live a celibate life, everyone can make good use of sex education. If you plan to have a romantic/sexual relationship, you need to learn more than a couple of things. Taking any of our kink, LGBTQ, and poly-positive workshops can offer you some advantages, both personally and professionally.

ALT’s workshops are intended for BDSMK professionals, sex workers, counselors, psychotherapists or any private person who wishes to educate themselves on adventurous sex or BDSMK activities. We envision BDSMK activities as an elongated expression of a healthy human sexuality.

Kinsey, Masters & Johnson, Simon & Gagnon, Lehmiller; they all teach us what we already knew yet we still keep denying, we all are “perverts”. To a greater or lesser extent, we all have something that when said out loud in a well-lit room could be seen as kink behavior. So, why shouldn’t we embrace that reality and just learn how to keep our “depravity” within ethical, safe and sane boundaries?

Workshops’ Purpose

From reducing stigma and shame, to visualizing -hence normalizing- sexual diversity, promoting self-acceptance and reducing feelings of guilt [or abnormality] among those who engage in -or are curious about- kink activities.

ALT’s approach to human sexual education is determined by considering people's intersections and acknowledging the fact that good sex is not exclusive to the BDSMK lifestyle; heterosexual, monogamous, romantic and traditional sex also has its audience, and we shouldn’t judge them.

Our workshops are NOT a “let’s preach kink & LGBTQ” forum. ALT’s workshops are kink-friendly education spaces that aim to improve safety, increase satisfaction, nurture intimacy, encourage healthier emotional-sexual relationships, and cultivate an adventurous spirit. From teaching safety techniques, best practices for novice explorers, understanding the physical and psychological impacts of activities, to knowing first aid; we aim to give folks the necessary information to improve the chances of having positive results.

Why Workshops and Not Tutorials?

It is not our mission to write fantasy erotic novels, neither is to “teach” the how to do it without talking about the when to, whom to, where and the what. We do not deny the usefulness of tutorials, actually we ourselves use them as instructional tools where the focus is on teaching specific skills or concepts. Nonetheless, we believe workshops are interactive, hands-on sessions that involve active participation from attendees.

Miss Abby is a strong advocate for the “every relationship, dynamic and archetype is different, having a step-by-step guide on how something should be done, how to perform specific tasks or how it should look like inhibits people's creativity, uniqueness and freedom” approach. Reason why ALT’s workshops are not designed to tell you what to do; we rather strive to make you think, our educational materials are designed to give verifiable information, assist on hands-on exercises to develop the necessary skills, boost peer learning without shying away from exploring complex topics in depth.

What Do We Teach that You Don't Already Know?

The belief that we don't need to learn because “it’s supposed to be natural” is a big fallacy. Walking is natural, yet we need someone to teach us before we are able to do it ourselves, and even then most of the time we do it wrong; bad habits, bad posture, we even wear bad shoes. Is so funny that we live in a heavily sex charge cultural era, yet social conventions expect we don’t talk about sex. Is like pretending to have AI everywhere but asking people not to learn about computers. Changing this mindset is ALT’s first objective.

Many societies place a strong emphasis on achieving certain milestones attached to our sexuality. First relationship, first stable relationship, marriage, kids. Yet, no one teaches us how to do that properly and satisfactorily, this is especially true for women. We are expected to complete these “tasks” while navigating careers, emotional and physical challenges without any previous learning and excel at it. Oh, yeah, you also need to feel “complete” when doing so.

Society often doesn't encourage lifelong learning to improve our personal life. Learning is focused on productivity, that's it. The rest is just a waste of time. In some cases, we might feel curious yet we do not have easy access to learning resources, or we find the “straitened” versions. Providing more accessible, flexible, and relevant learning resources can encourage people to continue their education even if there isn't a strong cultural emphasis on going through such education.

We believe that talking about the real benefits of lifelong learning and debunking myths can empower more individuals to keep learning throughout their lives. Including kink in sex education helps normalize the wide variety of sexual behaviors and interests, after all, human sexuality encompasses a wide range of practices and preferences. A comprehensive sex education should cover this diversity to provide a complete understanding.

Who Should Take Our Workshops?

Ranging from people exploring their sexuality, partners and/or spouses wanting to “spice things up”, novice or knowledgeable kink practitioners to social workers, healthcare providers, mental health professionals, sex educators/advocates, sex workers, [gender/sexuality] community leaders and organizers, ending with anyone interested in sexual diversity. Our workshops are open to all those who have an open mind!

Kink As A Vocation

Miss Abby is the driving force behind ALT. She started her journey in 2008, and since then she has spent a lot of time, resources and effort searching for the most reliable sexual educational sources available. From her beginnings as a submissive, through her switch stage until she reached her dominant stage, Miss Abby has learned that sex goes far beyond the physical act of intercourse. Thanks to her personal journey she endeavored little by little into the "facilitator" role, ultimately developing as a sensual exploration usher, as she likes to explain. She states: “when I say I’m a sex educator people think I teach how to put it in when what I teach is how to think about sex".

Miss Abby believes wholeheartedly that kink-friendly sex education can significantly improve people's mental health, and even save lives. With ALT she strives to make kink-aware content but not limited to it. Miss Abby believes in inclusivity, words like “normal”, “vanilla”, “real [insert archetype]” are NOT part of ALT speech. “Everyone deserves a good fuck that makes them happy” is Miss Abby’s ultimate goal behind her sex education approach.

We believe in ethical, empathic, healthy, inclusive safe spaces where any person can express their own sexual self without fear of retaliation, shame or ostracism. Our kink-friendly perspective stems from our founder’s passion. Thanks to her life experience, Miss Abby has managed to understand the importance of emotional support and education to be able to build healthy relationships; our sessions, workshops, mentorships and therapy, they all aim to offer that much needed support and education.
